A Short Religious Word

I recently received a new calling as a Sunday school teacher. Before I was even officially scheduled to teach, I took a look at the lesson titles. Two of them were based around family history. I knew without a doubt that I would be teaching one of them. Sure enough my lesson was about finding joy in temple and family history work.

I wish to talk a little about this lesson because I learned a few things that increased my desire for this work even more. To start, I talked about the Plan of Salvation (the Plan of Happiness or whatever else it may be called). This was actually not part of the lesson, but in my studying I found it essential to get across a few important ideas.

My focus with the Plan of Salvation was the Spirit World. Mainly, how it is divided into Paradise and Prison. It is my understanding that sometimes certain work is not done for an individual to tie them together in sacred family units. If this is the case, those individuals might be left in Prison until the work is done and they are able to progress within God’s kingdom.

The reason I bring this all up is because I feel strongly about the fact that many of us agreed to personally turn our hearts to our fathers so they could be linked to us eternally. Part of finding joy in this work is sharing our triumphs with others. FAMILY, it is what our faith is all about. The first Christmas was a son. It was an addition to a family, an addition that was able to link us all forever. Merry Christmas!

A Post, Just A Few Months Late

I set this blog up months ago, but I haven’t gotten around to actually writing a post. My original idea was to set it up for my research and findings. I hope to add other family members who are interesting in family history. If this is you, I can set you up to create posts (Karen, I hear you found a few names on the Curtis side. I am sure we would all love to know who and what you found). I am still figuring a few things out, but I think I only need the email address you use in Blogger.

Even while I am only working a few hours a week, I still find time hard to come by. I always think I will be able to allocate more of my week to family history and maybe someday I will. Until then, who knows how often posts will appear. Don’t give up on me. Perhaps with all of us working together we can come up with enough of the interesting stories that made us who we are today.

When I was contemplating starting this blog, I did consider that it would be a great Christmas idea. I am not at the height of my riches at the moment. I needed inexpensive ideas and since time is slightly easier to come by than money, I figured this would be a great idea. Unfortunately, I haven’t had much progress with it. You never know, maybe we all could use a great New Year resolution!
